Las Peñitas · Pacific Nicaragua

Wake up to
the break.

A rustic little beach lodge of seven suites, sitting right on the sand at one of Las Peñitas' best surf spots — with an indoor pool that opens to the sea.

Welcome to El Simple

A rustic little lodge on a wild stretch of the Pacific.

The Simple Beach Lodge — El Simple to most — is seven unique suites set directly on the Las Peñitas waterfront, right where a generous surf break peels past the sand. No fuss, no gloss: just whitewashed walls, sea breeze, and the kind of quiet you came for.

There's an indoor pool that opens straight onto the beach, a private slice of sand to call your own, and the wild mangroves of Juan Venado just across the channel. Take the whole lodge for a group, or settle into a single suite and let the days run long.

An indoor beachfront pool

Cool off in shade with the ocean a few steps away — a rare thing on this coast, and entirely yours.

Private beach space

A stretch of sand out front that belongs to the lodge — for sundowners, long reads, and toes in the water.

Surf out front

A prime Las Peñitas break rolls in right past the lodge — paddle out at dawn before anyone else is up.

The Signature

A pool that opens to the ocean.

El Simple's covered, beachfront pool is the heart of the lodge — shaded from the midday sun, steps from the surf, and quiet enough to hear the waves. Beside it, a private poolside dining area is set just for guests.

  • Covered indoor pool, steps from the sand

The Area & Experiences

Wild coast on one side, a colonial city on the other.

Las Peñitas sits between open ocean and the Juan Venado mangroves, with León just up the road. There's plenty to do — or nothing at all.

The surf break

A consistent beach break right out front, working for all levels. Boards, lessons, and dawn patrol all start at the door.

[ mangrove channel, Juan Venado ]

Juan Venado reserve

Paddle the mangroves of the nature reserve just across the channel — turtles, herons, crocodiles, and silence.

[ León cathedral & streets ]

León, 25 minutes away

Nicaragua's spirited colonial city — markets, museums, rooftop bars, and volcano boarding — a short drive inland.

Eat by the pool

No on-site restaurant — and that's the charm. Bring food in from local kitchens and dine privately by the water.

Good to know

Simple by design.

The on-site restaurant closed in 2025, so meals here are pleasantly DIY. A guest kitchen is yours to use, and the best food on the coast is a quick delivery away.

Guest kitchen

A small shared kitchen for cooking your own catch or morning coffee.

Food brought in

Order from local favorites like Puesta del Sol and Encantiki — straight to the lodge.

Private poolside dining

A guests-only table set beside the pool, just back from the sand.

Suites, your way

Five with A/C, one open-air beachfront suite, and the treehouse for the crew.
